Oracle Big Data Service makes it easy for customers to deploy Hadoop clusters of all sizes, with VM shapes ranging from 1 OCPU to a dedicated bare metal environment. Customers choose between high-performance NVmE storage or cost-effective block storage, and can grow or shrink their clusters.


Workload portability

Oracle Big Data Service runs on Cloudera Enterprise 6.x and uses the same cluster management software as on-premises customer deployments. This makes it easier for enterprises to move workloads to the cloud and ensures compatibility with on-premises solutions.



Oracle Cloud SQL

Oracle Cloud SQL is an available add-on service that enables customers to initiate Oracle SQL queries on data in HDFS, Kafka, and Oracle Object Storage. Any user, application, or analytics tool can transparently work with data stores, using push-down, scale-out processing to minimize data movement and speed queries.


Oracle Machine Learning for Spark

Oracle Machine Learning for Spark R (OML4Spark R) gives data scientists functions for manipulating data stored in HDFS, Spark DataFrames, and other JDBC sources. They can also build machine-learning models in R for easy deployment with Apache Spark using high-performance libraries with scalable, parallelized algorithms. OML4Spark R lets users take advantage of all Big Data Service cluster nodes and is easily accessed via the included notebook or a customer-installed notebook.



Graph and spatial analytics

Oracle Big Data Service includes Oracle Big Data Spatial and Graph so customers can analyze location and graph data, uncover hidden relationships, and generate new data that can be used to enhance machine-learning models.
